We enjoyed a sunrise service, breakfast, and two worship services to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus!
Don't keep the power of the resurrection to yourself! The joy and grace God gave us on that cross is meant to be shared every single day! "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age." - Matthew 28:19-20
We hope you are enjoying your Easter Sunday! Remember all that Jesus went through for us. He is risen!
Early this morning, several woman, including Mary Magdalene, went to the tomb to discover that the stone had been rolled away, and the tomb was empty! "The angel said to the women, 'Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay. Then go quickly and tell His disciples: "He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see Him." Now I have told you.” - Matthew 28:5-7 As they went to tell the disciples, Jesus appeared to them, repeating the angel's instructions. The soldiers told the chief priests what had happened, and quickly they devised a false story that His disciples had stolen His body in the night. "Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'" - Matthew 28:16-20 Yes, He has risen! He is risen, indeed!! Read: Matthew 28

Today, Jesus' body was guarded by Roman soldiers. When the Sabbath ended at 6pm, His body was treated for burial with spices purchased by Nicodemus, a mixture of myrrh and aloes. They wrapped Jesus' body in strips of linen. "At the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid. Because it was the Jewish day of Preparation and since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there." - John 19:41-42 Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea, the two men who received Jesus' body and prepared Him for burial, were part of the Sanhedrin, the group of men who convicted Jesus. They had been following Jesus in secret for some time, afraid to publicly profess their belief that Jesus was, in fact, the long-awaited Messiah. Upon Christ's death, the two men boldly came forward, and took care in His burial preparations. Read: John 19:38-42

Today, Good Friday, is a very difficult time for Jesus and His followers. Early this morning, feeling remorse over his betrayal, Judas Iscariot hung himself after returning the silver he was paid to turn Jesus in. Jesus had been imprisoned overnight and this morning He was brought before Pilate. As was customary during the Passover festival, one prisoner was to be released. The crowd, when given the choice between Jesus and Barabbas (a known prisoner), the crowd chose to release Barabbas while convicting Jesus to die by crucifixion. Jesus was tortured, mocked, a crown of thorns placed on His head and pressed into the skin to draw blood. He was spat on and whipped, then forced to carry His cross on His back full of open wounds. At Calvary, Jesus was displayed on a cross between two criminals, His hands and feet nailed to the cross. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” - Luke 23:34 As He hung on the cross, one of the prisoners asked Jesus to remember him, and Jesus told the man, "Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” - Luke 23:43 "It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Jesus called out with a loud voice, 'Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.' When he had said this, he breathed his last. - Luke 23:44-46 By 6 p.m. Friday evening, Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea took Jesus' body down from the cross and lay it in a tomb, where He would remain until His resurrection on the third day. Today's reading: Luke 22:66-23:56
Easter is this Sunday! We hope to see you at church - bring your friends!
Today in Jerusalem, Jesus sent Peter & John to the Upper Room to begin preparations for the Passover Feast. Jesus washes the feet of His disciples then says, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.” - Luke 22:15-16 During the Last Supper, Jesus established The Lord's Supper: "And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, 'This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.' In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.'" - Luke 22:19-20 During the meal, Jesus said one of His disciples would betray Him, and Peter would deny Him three times before the rooster crows. Later, He went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray, "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done." (Luke 22:42) Judas brought the Sanhedrin to the garden where He identified Jesus with a kiss, and Jesus was arrested. Today's reading: Luke 22:7-62
